Red Red Rose

“O my luve is like a red red, rose” – a wonderful poem by the brilliant Scottish poet Robert Burns, which is the inspiration for this new sculpture. The base tin is a timeworn iron grey tin from around 1910. To the rear is a little plaque that reads ” Tucker & Sons, Newton Abbot, And Bristol Maltsters”. To the front of the tin, the aforementioned poem’s first line has been hammered into a vintage gold effect tin fragment. It sits in a little old picture frame from the early 1900’s. A tiny rose has erupted from the base of the frame. To the top of the sculpture, three more larger roses have also sprouted. The heads of these are from a 1950’s bracelet. They sit upon bead spacer cups from a vintage necklace, and have stems of vintage copper wire, from which little handmade copper leaves sprout. The whole sculpture measures approximately 15cm tall x 8cm wide x 3.5cm deep.
