“Love is the Honey” Storybox sculpture, is inspired by all the lovely bumble bees I have seen gracing the flowers this week. So wonderful to see them out! This storybox is housed in a lovely antique leather Victorian ladies pocket watch holder case from the late 1800’s, with a double opening lid. There is a built in stand to the rear, so it can either be displayed flat, or standing. It has its original sage green velvet lining. Inside, there is a beautiful gilt metal cast beehive, circa the late 1800’s. Around this, fly the tiniest of little bees, made from wire, with little silk thread wings. The words “life is the flower, of which love is the honey”, are sculpted out of wire. There is an antique velvet flower circa the early 1800’s inside one part of the lid, and on the other are two small pink enamelled hearts, origianally from a 1950’s necklace, and another tiny bee. The whole piece measures 8cm x 14cm when open. As with most of my pieces, it is a one-off sculpture, that cannot be exactly replicated again. It is £295 plus postage.
