Set inside an upturned antique drawer from a travelling apothecary’s scales. This little scene is full of emotion, and can be interpreted in a few ways, all quite emotional!
The 1960’s dog figure is sitting in a field of grass and poppies (the grass is antique shredded hemp, and the poppies made from wire and painted). He looks on towards a stye, (1930’s lead piece), and a house in the distance. The house looks out on to a seascape, and there are rays of sunshine emitting from the clouds. In the sky, a little bird swoops in circles above the dog. The background is a watercolour from 1910, and the bird is a tiny antique copper jewellery finding, which is automated to move in circles with a vintage mechanism housed in a box at the back). The scene is full of wistfulness, and longing, but it’s also full of never ending love, memories, and happiness, and the thought that we will all hopefully be reunited in the end.
Measures 26cm wide x 16 cm high, and a total of 10cm deep including key to wind.
